Eel Cucumber Roll Yelp

The eel avocado roll is essentially a sweet roll, with tender-cooked fish and a savory-sweet eel sauce. When combined with fresh avocado and cucumber, the results are deeply satisfying. What's even better, you can make a variety of sushi rolls and nigiri (fish layered on rice) using the same ingredients you'll need for this recipe.

The sushi roll version of unagi is called unakyu and it's a sushi roll with well-cooked eel and cucumber, usually served with tare sauce. Slice the cucumber into long thin rings. Cut the eel fillet into very thin slices. Wrap the eel slices around each cucumber slice. Place some sushi rice on top of the nori seaweed, and cover with another piece of nori seaweed. Place a filling like wasabi, cream cheese, and mayonnaise on top of your roll.
