Place the tin in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. The cake is cooked when pressed lightly in the center and it springs back, or an inserted skewer comes out clean. As soon as the cake is baked remove from the oven and place the tin on a cooling rack or trivet. Leave the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes.

You can also place your snowflake under a heavy book overnight to flatten. (I don't recommend using any sort of heat-source to flatten, as it may cause curing in some of the fine points in the pattern.)
